Referral Letter Sample

Situation: A great client or customer calls you with some good news: They want to refer someone to you.

Then all of a sudden, they say something like…

"Do you have some sort of letter or something that I can mail to these people I'm thinking about? It would make it a lot easier on me…"

Ut oh. Foot in mouth

What do you do?

How do you handle this request?

One way to take the first step is give them a letter they can sign… drop in the mail… make it as easy as possible for them (like they requested). Fill in the areas with your info.

Here's a sample letter I've created that you can use (no strings.)

Dear First Name:

I know you'll agree with me when I say there are certain people in our lives that just automatically enhance the quality of our day-to-day. For me, it's been my friend (your name here) of (company name here), in (city here).

The counsel (he/she) has offered me has been immeasurable. And (your first name here) is about as approachable and friendly as you and me.

Sometimes when you have fantastic experiences — especially in today's times — you just can't help but tell others about it. I hope you'll take the time to speak to (your first name here). I call (him/her) a friend.

(He/She) is a true professional who holds every personal conversation in the highest regard.

Sincerely yours,

Your client's name goes here

PS –

I'm providing your name to (him/her) so that (he/she) can follow-up with you by telephone shortly.
